Prayer For Guidance When Fog Is In The Way

Divine guidance begins by being truly open to it. God is speaking to us all the time, but we hardly ever listen. We act as if our own Creator is totally indifferent to us; all the while, He feels everything we feel. We want what we want when we want it without any delay. We run our lives as if our nametag was who we really are. Only when we confront a major crisis, such as a diagnosis of cancer, do we begin to hear His voice.

The Christian tradition, along with the other Abrahamic faiths, is very strong on destiny and direction. God is seen as caring for His creation and actively intervening on behalf of those who call upon Him. It culminates in Jesus of Nazareth praying in the Garden of Gethsemane as to whether or not He must go to the cross and die for humanity.

Every bone of His body retracted from that option, yet He irresistibly felt the call to surrender to crucifixion as His destiny. After repeatedly asking, “Father, if it be your will, take this cup from me,” He concluded with, “Nevertheless, not my will, but yours be done.”

Pray From Your Heart

We are all here on a divine mission invested with a unique talent that can bring glory to the Creator and light to the creation. We are children of the Most High, bearing His very image in the nucleus of our being.

As we begin to awaken to this, we will start to realize that the Father through His Son, the Creator through His Avatar and Messiah, loves us with an absolute love. Even more amazing, we will come to realize that this very love is WHO WE REALLY ARE.

The conditioned response is to shirk from the realization of our own magnificence by being reasonable: “Who me? I’m just another working stiff.” We then pray to God when we are in trouble with mumbo jumbo that doesn’t really mean anything to us, rather than speak directly from our heart.

The First Step in Divine Guidance

To profit from God’s direction, we must have a relationship with Him. We are, in fact, related to Him in the most intimate way imaginable: “God is closer to you than your jugular vein” says the Qur’an. The early Christians were encouraged to think of God, not only as their Father, but also as their Daddy. God loves you more than life itself. When you begin to open up to this, it will change everything for you.

You need only ask God to occupy you, to open the door to your life and invite Him in to take center stage. In truth, He is already there; you just don’t recognize Him. God is your only True and Ultimate Self, and you are divine. You have no real identity apart from Him. The most exalted mystical traditions relate to God as our Lover.

God would give anything for us. When we look at the life of Christ, we can feel the resurrecting power of His love. If Jesus of Nazareth dies for us all, then He lives for us all, and is always ready to hear us at a moment’s notice.

You don’t need to use fancy words with God. The simpler, the better:

Show me…  Guide me…  Direct me…  What do you want to accomplish through me?  ...How can I best serve both the Planet and humanity?

Your Prayer and God’s Response

What is even more amazing is that when you really start opening up, you will learn to actually hear God with your inner, if not outer, ear. Jesus advised His earliest students, “My sheep hear my voice, and I give unto them eternal life.” As the Great Shepherd, Jesus has a unique signature that defies time and space.

If you simply tune into that signature, you will hear Him right now. This may take a bit of time--a few days, a few weeks, a few months before you are on the same frequency with Him. But it won’t take forever. All you need do is realize in a very personal way just how much God loves you. Going to the cross was the ultimate demonstration, but that was only the beginning.

God speaks to us through circumstances, as well. James Redfield began his timeless classic, The Celestine Prophecy, by focusing on synchronicity, where events converge in an uncanny way. You think of a long lost friend, and she calls you out of the blue. You see the same person, whom you never met before, half a dozen times the very same day in very different places. James suggests in his spiritual allegory that the person you meet has a message for you. Often you will find it is a direct message from God.

Guidance Prayer In Extreme Circumstances

In case of a highly stressful situation, such as a diagnosis of cancer, and a recommendation of chemotherapy, where you don’t really know which way to turn, you have multiple options. Does God really want you to go that route? People are often healed through faith or positive thinking.

How many times in your life have you heard of someone who was given six months to live, and then went on living another 20 years without blinking an eye? This is called spontaneous remission when physicians can’t find a scientific explanation to account for the healing. Learn more about prayers for surgery by visit ConsciousOwl.com

Maybe you choose to go through the conventional therapy, while making extensive use of complementary therapy, in terms of support groups, creative visualization, psychic healing and the like. Today, as never before, we have a choice to pursue a wide array of alternatives.

You start by asking God which direction He wants you to go. Realize that the situation is perfect just the way that it is. Nothing that happens is a total accident. You are going to do what you are going to do. Everyone does whatever he or she does, because it seems like the best thing for him or her at the time.

The difference is opening up your consciousness to receive multiple inputs, including inner guidance. Not only will you consult with your physician or prospective surgeon, you will consult with alternative healers and spiritual mentors. You will meditate and let circumstances open up whole new possibilities for you.

Got Inner Love?

When you fully feel God’s presence with you and in you, fear evaporates. Love is the answer in every situation. Many times you will feel it from others. You are never alone. God is with you. Whatever happens to you will never totally do you in, as you will inherit eternal life.

If you listen to people like Dr. Eben Alexander, or Anita Moorjani, you will be most impressed with the immensity of love they experienced in their extended near-death experiences. For Dr. Alexander, that lasted nearly seven days!

By simply opening up and asking for divine guidance, you are well ahead of the game. You will feel a great reassurance. It is all perfect, just as it is. Life is a precious gift. You won’t leave this Planet a moment before your time. Your only True and Ultimate Self will never die, because that Self is Eternal Love.
